Things I Love

The easiest way to decorate by far is to make the stuff you own look good. There are many ways to do that of course but as far as books go most people line them up in a bookcase and leave things at that. But there are a millions other options. Stacks, backward spines, artful piles – so why not create something interesting while you’re at it? It makes a world of difference.

Blame Beyonce. I’m pretty sure I’ve featured surfboards-as-decor here before but they are definitely having a moment. I’ve seen them on shirts, in prints as well as as-is. It’s a wonderful theme for the summer season and would bring that beachy vibe home even in the middle of winter. Approved.

If you are looking to truly stand out, there are few more fail-proof ways than by choosing an unusual light fixture. These linear brass numbers are a great example. Though a thoroughly modern shape, the brass finish adds some formality and makes them a perfect match for even a traditional space. I would loooove to hang one in my dining room but they are a wee bit out of my budget for the time being. But a girl can dream right? xx
