This week’s Wishlist Wednesday is about actual things I am buying for myself. You see, I’ve never ever been particularly excited about celebrating my birthday. But this year in particular is especially hard, for obvious reasons. So what can a broken hearted girl do? Clearly the only logical thing is to buy some hot pairs of shoes.

Jeffrey Campbell Pixies – Revolve Clothing
I’ve had my eye on these guys for over a year, so I figure it’s high time to get them on my feet.

Gold skull heels – Iron Fist (available from my friends at Hitz Boutique in Gastown in you are in Vancouver)
I also recently fell in lust with these puppies. They are admittedly not my usual “designer shoe” type but I love them none the less. Gold skulls! Totally ridic! (Psssst – my big trick for “cheaper” shoes like this is to buy a size up and put a nice squishy gel insole in them. It makes all the difference I swear.)
Speaking of shoes, I found some ridiculously amazing platform Gucci booties at (of all places) Winners yesterday. They were still $500 though so alas, they didn’t come home with me. But daaaaang they were good. And I will probably be dreaming about them for the next few weeks.
So since it’s a shoe day around here, I ask you to tell me about your shoes: the ones you are buying, the ones you want and the ones that got away.

{ Miu Miu glitter and suede booties: pink/silver at Net A Porter (sold out), black/silver at Black at Neiman Marcus, green/gold at Green/Gold at Net A Porter & pink/gold at My Theresa }
I am ridiculously, head-over heels in shoe-love with these glitter booties from Miu Miu. They are admittedly kind of ridiculous and I really have no idea what I would actually wear them with. But every time I see a picture of them I can’t help but get a little swoon-y. Is it the Wizard of Oz connotation of the sparkly magical shoe that makes these so hard to resist? Or the pretty, subdued colour combinations? Not that it matters. These babies are priced steeply (at $890) which means that I won’t be finding them lurking in my closet anytime soon. But lucky for me this a major moment for sparkly footwear. There are lots of other pretties to choose from:

1 – Jeffrey Campbell Foxy platform – Singer22 – $155
2 – Stuart Weitzman Lastikon ballet flats – Bloomingdale’s – $275
3 – Darby loafers – J.Crew – $215
4 – Hastt – Steve Madden – $169.95
5 – Senso Narcisco glitter – Solestruck – $184.95
6 – Anniel glitter derby shoe Bird – $125
7 – Maccoy chelsea boots Topshop – $72
8 – French Sole India flat – Asos – £95
9 – Alice + Olivia Gizelle platforms – ShopBop – $295
10 – Tacetti pump – Nordstrom – $325
Happily, most of these styles are much more wearable than their Miu Miu counterparts. But I still haven’t seen any “inspired” versions in that luscious pink and silver combo. Although seeing their current level of internet popularity, I’m sure it won’t take long before we see something more Miu Miu-like for the masses.

I am obsessing over scallops these days. It all started when I saw these Marc Jacobs scallop edge flats recently and totally swooned. They are a surprising choice for fall perhaps but completely adorable all the same. And then I started noticing scallops basically everywhere. They add a pretty feminine touch to otherwise simple pieces (similar to the polka dots and bows that I’ve also shown recently). I especially like this used where it’s unexpected – like on those denim shorts. This may have been a summer trend but it’s still holding on for fall – and it’s totally perfect for the Indian summer we are having.

1 – Scalloped eyelet shorts – Free People – $49.95
2 – Scalloped edge detail top – Warehouse – £20
3 – Rabbit print scallop purse – TopShop – $15
4 – Pins and Needles scallop stripe sweater – UO – $54
5 – Embellished kimono – Asos – $137.12
6 - Moto blue scalloped hotpants - TopShop - $60
7 - Scalloped hem skirt - Forever21 - $19.80
8 – Marc Jacobs scallop pink flats Couture Zappos – $444

If you love the look but prefer to DIY, A Pair and a Spare has a great post on how to make some shorts very similar to those TopShop ones. Have fun!

The desert boot has been reborn as a slightly dressier version of it’s old self for fall. These versions are still all suede but this time around they sport a short-to-medium-height wooden heel. They will look fantastic paired with everything from skirts with tights to cropped pants or leggings. When I was in Australia, I saw girls rocking these everywhere (as it was already fall there) and I have been dying to get my hands on a pair ever since. And for bonus points, they are pretty wearable for the rest of summer too – maybe for an evening out paired with a floral summer dress?

1 – n.d.c. Shoes Em boot – Diani Boutique – $515
2 – Dune desert boots in gray – Asos – $85.33
3 – Pembrook bootie in taupe suede – Steve Madden – $159.95
4 – A.P.C. suede boots in chocolate – Net-A-Porter – $500
5 – Prada lace up suede ankle boot Nordstrom – $590
6 – Rachel Comey Sir Barton short boot – La Garconne – $358
7 – DV by Dolce Vita Jamison – Piperlime – $119
8 – Suede zipcode boot in castle rock – Madewell – $188
9 – Modern Vintage Adrien chunky heel in antelope – ShopBop – $275
10 – Aisha block heel in taupe – Dolce Vita – $109
