While looking over the Coachella photos from the weekend, I was totally struck by how much asymmetry is out there is fashion right now. I knew it had been creeping slowly into hemlines and shirts but my prediction is that this summer it will be absolutely everywhere. I especially like it in the longer hem lines on skirts and dresses. Sometimes floor length just feels like a little too much, you know? Asymmetry is both comfy and cool – truly a winning combination for any time of year but especially for the summer.

It seems that every fall you can open a fashion magazine and read the proclamation somewhere that “leopard is back!”. Well personally I don’t think leopard ever really left. Every fall like clockwork I get a hankering for a little hit of this fun feline print. I love to incorporate little bits and pieces of it to my wardrobe and I think it’s really classic. But a word of caution – less is definitely more here. Leopard requires a certain amount of restraint. Picking pieces that are looser fitting or more vintage-y looking is a great way to keep things from oozing over into skank territory (unless that’s what you want of course – then by all means!).

1 – Lovers + Friends sheer dress UO – $129
2 – Vintage leopard dress – Free People – $298
3 – No. 2 pencil skirt J.Crew – $118

4 – Vintage leopard print silk blouse – American Apparel – $38
5 – Mad Men Collection trench – Banana Republic – $198
6 – Current/Elliott stiletto skinnies – Cusp – $198

7 – Mink pink leopard lover cardi – NastyGal – $88
8 – Wilfred Balzac sweater – Aritzia – $115
9 – Woven leopard tee – Forever21 – $13.80

10 – Sunny day sandal - Madewell – $198
11 – Zuma/Loma cuffs – Dannijo – $180
12 – Sam Edelman Bina loafer – Revolve Clothing – $130
If you are feeling a little shy, a great accessory is the perfect way to incorporate some leopard into your closet. Cute leopard print flats or a simple cuff are almost fool-proof. On the flip side, sky high stilettos are not, and while there are definitely some cute ones out there right now, you really have to be careful with the height and silhouette of both your shoe and your outfit. These vintage-y looking sandals are a bit dressier than flats but still keep things fresh and – best of all – they are really easy to wear. They are also currently sold out (boo!) but let’s hope they get restocked soon.

I know I have been on the bright colour train lately but, believe it or not, there is another colour trend that I am loving these days: nudes. These is a great option for summer when wearing white just feels like too much work. Nudes are a great neutral that will mix well with an array of browns, black and even navy. These pieces just all feel so fresh to me right now:

1 – Backstage Glam Rock lace dress at Revolve Clothing – $165
2 – Two tone knit dress by Zara – $39.90
3 – Corset draped peg-leg jumpsuit by Asos – £65

4 – Lightweight camp popover by J.Crew – $72
5 – Stella McCartney eyelet shorts at Montaigne Market – £650
6 – Nymph top by Rag & Bone – $195

7 – T by Alexander Wang sheer jersey tank dress at Shopbop – $110
8 – Mesh and chiffon maxi skirt at Asos – £50
9 – Amanda Uprichard Crystal dress at Revolve Clothing – $193

10 – Single button 70s jacket by Topshop – $110
11 – Pleated shoulder tee from Gap – $24.95
12 – Elizabeth and James distressed linen jacket at Nordstrom – $395
As much as I love this colour, I do admit it is a little tricky to wear. I think this looks best when it contrasts with your skin, not when it blends right in. I have olive skin therefore I should stick to the really pale nudes or wait until I am a bit tanned for the darker ones. In the mean time, I’m going to stock up on some Jergen’s Natural Glow to speed up the process!

I am still on a bright crisp colour kick over here and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. I’m loving the idea of these dresses for summer. They are easy to wear and super cute, always a winning combination in my books. I need to get my hands on a few brights sometime soon. Zara still has an excellent selection out, but when I went there on the afternoon of our holiday Monday there was a line up much too long for me to be bothered with. But I will return and hopefully it won’t be so crazy-bananas. Meanwhile, let’s admire these puppies shall we?

1 – Sonia Rykiel silk crepe de chine maxi at Net A Porter – $2420
(They are calling this one a gown but it seems rather daytime to me, no? I mean despite the price?)
2 – Colour blocked maxi by Warehouse – £35

3 – Colour blocked midi dress by Asos – £55 This looks way higher end than it actually is.
4 – Colour block maxi tee dress by Boutique at Topshop – $110 USD. So easy to wear!

5 – Marc by Marc Jacobs splashed colour splash dress at Saks – $158
6 – Two tone dress by Zara – $59.90 (probably sold out now that Pippa Middleton wore it)

7 – DKNY short sleeved block dress by DKNY – $245 Day to night, oh yeah.
8 – Asos White maxi dress at Asos – £110 Jil Sander-light.

9 – Sparkle and Fade colorblock strapless at UO – $59 Adorbs.
10 – DVF Reara colorblock wrap dress at Intermix – $373.59 CAD The summer wedding dress you need this year.

I am not exactly a seasoned rider – nor will I ever be – but I definitely dig on horses. I know I have talked about my equestrian obsession here before. They’re beautiful and enchanting and just always seem kind of cool, if you know what I mean. And lately the fashion world has seemingly gone bonkers for them. Horse prints abound, which in turn makes me a very happy girl. There is definitely something horse-y out there for everyone.

2 – Grey suede horse print purse by Topshop – £10

5 – Navy silk Leifsdottir print blouse at Bluefly – $137 USD
6 – Arcatus Jewelry Argentium horse necklace at Max and Chloe – $188 USD
7 – Hold your Horses bracelet at ModCloth – $106 USD
8 – BIRD running horses oversized crop tee at Urban Outfitters – $15 USD
