{room of the week} The Montreal Loft
Posted: January 6th, 2011 | Author: Jennifer | Filed under: Room of the Week | Tags: house tours, houses, lofts | 2 Comments »I am definitely a loft type of girl. When given the choice between a space in an urban environment vs. massive digs in the country I will take the smaller city digs 100% of the time. But even we city slickers long for wide open spaces: huge environs in which to create cozy welcoming homes. When I think of a place that nears perfection (ie. urban + huge) I dream of spaces such as this:
Look at all the space in there. If one got bored with the furniture layout there would be a million ways to rearrange everything to create something new (an option those of us bound by walls do not have). And even though there is an absolute ton of furniture and accessories, it still comes across as spacious and open.
The gorgeous heritage details don’t hurt either: brick, exposed beams, arched windows, the view. Oh yes please! And that two-sided sleek fireplace is a fantastic modern foil to it all. I also love that they used sconces mounted to the archways. It mimics the look and feel of recessed lights and literally highlights the architecture at the same time. (I am not to crazy about the plants mind – you are either a houseplant person or you’re not and I am not.)

The glossy dark floors mixed with the sleek built-ins contrast nicely the funky-meets-traditional furnishings. It’s all quite amazing. I would be tempted to add a few area rugs but otherwise I could move right in.
{Please note: I’m being a bad blogger and posting photos out of my old mystery collection. If anyone has credits for these I would love to add them! My only notes are “Montreal Loft”. Ha. So not helpful.)
If you are looking to give your space a dose of fabulosity – whether you are splashing out or on a budget – drop me a line. Check out my Hire Me! page for more details.
