Last week the lighting went in and it has already made such a huge difference. I have to confess though that I made a rather common design error at this point. I ended up putting way more pot lighting in at the end than I was originally planning on – meaning my budget was much higher too. BUT. Any designer will tell you that lighting is critical. Honestly there can almost never be enough.
Some designers are also anti-pot light but not me. But there is a big difference between ONLY using pot lights and using them as just part of your lighting scheme. Personally I love pots. I love them on dimmers and I especially appreciate them during those dark winter months. I like having control over the lights and dimmers are the best way to do that. Put the all lights on super low and add a few candles – it’s perfect party lighting. (PS – I am putting a light back in above the medicine cabinet – planning mishap – what can I say.) Plus it’s a huge pain to go back later and do this, especially when I am fixing the ceiling anyway. So it just made sense to do it right and to do it right now.
As you can see, my electrician is basically a genius and does his best to install pots without creating huge holes everywhere. There are a few holes (that can’t be avoided entirely) but they will all be healed up nicely once my ceiling guy is finished! It’s all coming together. Stay tuned….
