Mamilla Hotel Jerusalem
The Mamilla Hotel Jerusalem is one of Jerusalem’s most fashionable boutique hotels. The 194 room property is located in the Mamilla district of the Old City–and about a three minute walk from Jaffa Gate. It’s an upscale area that is known to have the best shopping in the city. The chic location is a perfect fit for this space.
The building was designed by architects Moshe Safdie and Piero Lissoni. It strikes a balance between the old and new. Witness the striking modern facade which was created with traditional Jerusalem stone.
Lissoni repeated the same stone on feature walls in each bedroom. The palette of oak flooring and furnishings in subdued colors such as sand and grey are perfect foils for the stone. The hotel is definitely minimal but use of unusual lighting, textures and colors keep the experience from becoming boring.
Guest bathrooms are especially well designed. A liquid crystal wall divides the bathroom and bedroom (it appears at the touch of a button). They also feature separate Corian bath and showers and features L’Occitane toiletries. Rooms sport king sized beds, small walk-in closets and flat screen TVs. Some have views overlooking the city.
The rooftop brasserie offers spectacular views across the city. A mix of Italian and local cuisine is served daily. Or check out the impressive Mirror Bar–complete with resident DJ. This wine bar on the mezzanine level is accessed by a stunning staircase and serves an array of beverages and tapas. The hotel also offers a cigar lounge, an espresso bar as well as a large breakfast room.
The hotel prides itself on a high level of service. Each guest is assigned an individual host who goes as far as emailing for information about the details of the guests stay ahead of their visit. An onsite spa and gym are available for relaxing after a long day but it’s good to note there is no business area. The hotel is also kashrut, which means that everything closes down after noon on Fridays.
