I’m tired of waiting for summer to arrive! We’ve had a few sunny days but not many. I am more than ready – and planning beach appropriate attire for the next sunny day. We are going away for a few days this weekend and I am praying the skies co-operate. Hope the weather is better wherever you are!

I love the look of an outdoor pool with just a hint of formality. Symmetrical boxwoods mixed with white outdoor furniture, marine style lighting and some bright accessories make this space fun and a little unexpected. The big star here, of course, is the big black and white striped cabana. It’s just calling for a few lazy hours spent sipping mojitos. The perfect way to spend a sunny summer afternoon!

This room is totally cute, relaxed and modern. I was imagining an uber-hip pair of parents (perhaps located in Park Slope?). You know the type: they still manage to have a sparkling clean home and perfectly tousled hair despite the burdens of parenthood. This is the perfect room for a family that is young and fun and – best of all – cool.

Funny where inspiration strikes isn’t it? My inspiration behind this set was Andrew Mukamal, the gothique ex-assistant to Kelly Cutrone, as seen on Kell on Earth. This is only a recent discovery of mine since I have to delve into the depths of the internet to watch anything from Bravo online (*ahem* I would gladly pay somewhere but since I’m in Canada nowhere will actually let me). Anyways I was totally enthralled by the brief glimpses of his fabulous apartment and his totally over-the-top glamourous style. So here it is – a dining room totally fit for the Prince of Darkness…

Halloween still has me thinking spooky thoughts. I blame the season for the dark direction this bedroom took, but I really love the end result. The tension between the sleek wardrobe unit and the curvy bed is fantastic. The rug is playful and unexpected, as is the black rose petal chandelier. The overall effect is definitely dark, but with the punches of fuchsia it is not at all gloomy. This would be the perfect space to curl up into on a blustery fall evening.
