[ 10 Pinterest Pinners You Should Follow ]

Posted: February 9th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Day in the Life | No Comments »

I know that I talk about Pinterest a lot. I love it okay? Or more accurately I’m addicted to it. Honestly I’m still buying paper magazines but I haven’t leafed through one in a while. There is just too much prettiness to peruse online! (I haven’t cancelled my subscriptions yet though.)

Part of my addiction is that I am always looking for new people to follow. And it’s always surprising to me how many people (bloggers/designers/magazines) aren’t on Pinterest. So I thought I would do a round-up of my favorites – blogger or not – to make it easier for you to find  some great people to follow.

1 – Erica Reitman

I thought I was a power pinner until I came across Erica. I really don’t know how she does it and has time for her two snarky blogs Design Blahg and Fucked in Park Slope. Her pinboards are inspiring and seemingly endless.

2 – Lindsey Herod

Lindsey is a designer at Kemble Interiors. And yes, that’s Kemble as in Celerie Kemble. So it’s no surprise at all that Lindsey’s pins are as feminine, glamorous and fresh as the work the firm is best known for.

3 – Jessica @ Black White Yellow

Do you like black, white and yellow? Of course you do. I know I do – which is why I love this pinboard (and blog). It’s a lovely graphic collection with lots of black and white. Love.

4 – I’m Revolting

I love a real commitment to personal style and the lovely spare boards of blogger I’m Revolting really put it on display. These are the kinds of boards that kind of make me wish I had never pinned anything pink or rainbow related. (Naaaah…)

5 – Maia McDonald

I just discovered her (through Refinery 29) but I am already impressed. Maia is a graphic designer for Shopbop by day and runs Conundrum at night. The sheer volume and inspiring topics of her pinboard makes me very happy indeed.

6 – Pennyweight

Another one with great personal style. This time though it’s all types of prettiness filtered through a vintage lens. Just as lovely as the vintage store she runs – Troubadour.

7 – Kate @ Wit + Delight

I have linked to the wonderful Wit + Delight blog a few times so it’s not at all surprising that I am totally enamored by her boards. This is a great mix of design and fashion – all of which has that distinctive relaxed vibe. (I always think Kate should be from California but in reality she’s in Minneapolis.)

8 – Eat Sleep Wear

Kimberley‘s boards are also wide-ranging but it’s the fashion boards that pique my interest the most. In particular I love the street style board! I may just start a similar one of my own (hers will undoubtedly be much cooler though).

9 – West Elm

This might seem like an odd choice but I really think West Elm is mastering the art of this still relatively-new form of social media. You might think they would only pin their own products – but you’d be wrong! There’s a ton of inspiration here on boards from Chevron to Chalkboard.

10 – Me!

Okay this is totally self serving. But it is my blog so why the heck not? If I haven’t convinced you to join Pinterest yet, I certainly hope this post helps to push you over the edge.

Do you suffer from street style overload? Sometimes I do. It just seems that there are so many wonderfully dressed people in the world that it all becomes just a bit daunting. And work wear presents it’s own particular challenges. Sometimes it’s a little difficult feel both cute and professional while expressing your personality while at work. But week day work clothes definitely don’t have to be boring, as evidenced above. And I’ve come up with five great outfits with mix-and-match accessories that I would personally love to wear for the nine-to-five. The trick is that this is basically a cool uniform: blouse, skinny jeans or pants, cardigan or jacket. Easy peasy.

I actually had to cheat at this this week – how sad is that? The two centre images are just from my phone and the photo of the house is not even from this week! I’ll be a better photobug this week I promise.

1 – appropriate bathroom graffiti at The Alibi Room
2 – pickle ornaments!
3 – a pretty Victorian in my hood that has since been torn down *sigh*
4 – the large tree at the Christmas Market (as were the previous two)
5 – me and my favorite new ugly vintage sweater
6 – vegetarian pho at Hanoi Pho (it was sooooooo good!)
