I mixing things up a little today to talk a bit beauty essentials. It’s a little outside of my usual territory, but what the heck? I have no intention of turning this into a beauty blog but who doesn’t like a voyeuristic look into someone else’s beauty routine? I am always totally fascinated about what people love to use – just one reason why I’m addicted to Make Up Alley, Into The Gloss and Pixiwoo. So I thought I’d go through my list here just for fun.
1 – Desert Essence 100% Pure Jojoba Oil
I use this as a facial moisturizer at night and I totally love it. As you can see I am on something of a kick to use as many natural products as possible. This was one of my first successful finds. They say that jojoba is very similar to your skin’s natural oils. Obviously I am no expert on that but I do know that this keeps my skin soft and moisturized – even in the chilly months.
2 – Omega Nutrition Coconut Oil
I discovered coconut oil as a moisturizer on my first trip to Thailand. It’s usually solid here (unless the weather really warms up) but that suits me fine. It’s like a body butter. It works really well and it doesn’t stain the way I’ve found some other oils to. Plus it’s dirt cheap. I bought a huge bucket for about $15 and it will last me a year or longer.
3 – Moroccanoil Treatment
Yes it’s another oil and, yes, I know this one is rather unnatural. But I love it. I use the teensiest bit on the dry ends of my hair and it prevents them from looking totally fried (which they basically are). And it smells absolutely amazing! The scent doesn’t last very long unfortunately but if I could get a Moroccanoil perfume to go with it I totally would.
4 – Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System
This is my newest discovery. I admit that I was a sucker for all the hype but in this case I can see why everyone raves about it so. Now I don’t think anyone would be able to look at me and tell that my skin is any different. But my skin definitely feels different – it’s much smoother and softer. It just seems to change it in a way that I just haven’t found with anything else, a way that makes me a true convert.
5 – Neutrogena Healthy Skin Radiance Cream SPF 15
This is my tried and true daytime moisturizer for the winter months (in the summer I switch to this). I don’t need much moisture in the day but I do insist on wearing SPF 15 or more every single day of the year. This one does the job, plus it has…vitamins? (One of those rather mysterious beauty claims.) Usually I mix it with a bit of my MAC Studio Fix to make a poor girl’s version of the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. I may eventually break down and buy the real thing but in the mean time this does the job perfectly well.
Admittedly my list of must-have’s is rather boring and granola in comparison to some of you ultra-glam bloggers out there. But if you have any comments or tips I’d love to hear ’em!
